English as a Second Language Teacher | Asylum Seeker Program

About the opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for people to join our passionate team of volunteers to work with people seeking asylum in Australia. The English program for Women of Asylum Seeker backgrounds aims to build proficiency in English language – listening, speaking, reading and writing. Teaching will focus initially at pre-Beginners’ and Beginners’ levels. The ESL Classroom teacher will be one of a team teachers.

Please note: Due to the nature of this program this role is open to people who identify as females only

 

About you

We're looking for motivated people committed to supporting and improving the lives of people seeking asylum. If you are good communicator with a passion for teaching, have regular ongoing availability and has a positive can-do attitude, we would like to hear from you. An understanding of empathy, the ability to build rapport and being a team player are critical in this role.

Knowledge and understanding of the factors impacting on the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities and experience working with families from diverse cultural backgrounds is highly valued.

Days & hours required:  Friday  4+ hour shift

Team Members - Customer Service | Christmas Giving Program

About the opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for people to join our passionate team of volunteers who assist families experiencing disadvantage over the Christmas period who reside in North and West of Melbourne. Team Members are the first point of contact for people attending the program, team members are responsible for meeting, greeting people and accompanying them to the program space. Team members will also support administrative functions and assist in signing in and providing site inductions to new volunteers.
 

About you

We're looking for motivated people committed to supporting people with disadvantages in the community. If you are good communicator who is flexible, has positive can-do attitude and excellent customer service skills we would like to hear from you. The ability to build rapport and being a team player are critical in this role. The program runs for 2 weeks in early December.

Potential volunteers will need to be available for training and induction along with information sessions being held in October or November 2017.

Days & hours required:  4+ hour shifts, 8 December 2017 – 22 December 2017

Team Members - Client Support | Christmas Giving Program

About the opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for people to join our passionate team of volunteers who assist families experiencing disadvantage over the Christmas period who reside in North and West of Melbourne. Team Members assist in supporting clients through the interview and appointment process. Volunteers conduct interviews with client, complete the required forms and support clients in the gift selection process and assist with the distribution of food.

The program runs for 2 weeks in early December.

Team Members - Transport Services | Christmas Giving Program

About the opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for people to join our passionate team of volunteers who assist families experiencing disadvantage over the Christmas period who reside in North and West of Melbourne. Team Members are responsible for the collection or food and gift donations from our community partners and Target stores across north/west Melbourne.

 

About you

We're looking for motivated people committed to supporting people with disadvantages in the community. If you are good communicator who is flexible, has positive can-do attitude and excellent customer service skills we would like to hear from you. The ability to build rapport and being to work independently is critical in this role. Additionally the ability to drive a large vehicle(delivery van or similar) is required along with a Full Australian Driver’s License The program runs for 2 weeks in early December.

English Conversation Class Facilitators  | Asylum Seeker Welcome Centre

About the opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for people to join our passionate team of volunteers to work with people seeking asylum in Australia. English Conversation Classes aim to provide English conversation practice for people learning English as a second language. English Conversation Class Facilitators work with clients and other volunteers in the running of English conversation classes.

Team Members assist in picking up deliveries from Foodbank Victoria in Yarraville, ensuring all food and material aid items are appropriately stored and displayed and arranging pick up of donations if required.
