Preparation for Work Program Team Members – Asylum Seeker Welcome Centre | Brunswick

About the Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for people to join our passionate team of volunteers to provide support to the Preparation for Work Program. Team Members are required for 2 – 4 hours every fortnight to provide one on one support to people seeking asylum in resume writing, cover letters, networking and other ad hoc support relevant to employment.

About you
We're looking for motivated people who are committed to supporting and improving the lives of people seeking asylum in Australia. If you have experience in Human Resources, have proficient computer skills and are a good communicator with good cross cultural understanding and have the ability commit to 2 – 4 hours every fortnight, matched by your positive can-do attitude we would like to hear from you. An understanding of empathy, the ability to build rapport and being a team player are critical in this role.
Knowledge and understanding of the factors impacting on the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities and experience working with families from diverse cultural backgrounds is highly valued.

Days & hours required:

Children’s Activity Group Team Members | Brunswick

About the Opportunity
Uniting Lentara Asylum Seeker Children’s Activity Group is offered to allow mums or female caregivers attending Uniting Lentara Women’s Group the opportunity to focus on their goals while also providing children with an opportunity for social interaction, engagement and activities. This is a fantastic opportunity for people to join our passionate team of volunteers to work with people seeking asylum. Team Members engage the group participants through relevant games and activities.

About you
We're looking for motivated people committed to supporting and improving the lives of people seeking asylum. If you love children and have a positive can-do attitude, we would like to hear from you. An understanding of empathy, the ability to build rapport with children and being a team player are critical in this role.
Knowledge and understanding of the factors impacting on the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities and experience working with families from diverse cultural backgrounds is highly valued.

Administration Team Members – Asylum Seeker Women’s Group | Brunswick

About the Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for people to join our passionate team of volunteers to assist with the planning and administration of each Asylum Seeker Women’s Group event. Team Members are required for one day per week to provide support to the Asylum Seeker Women’s group by assisting in the provision of a program and environment that recognises, values and respects the cultural and religious backgrounds of all participants.

English Conversation Class Facilitator | Brunswick

About the Opportunity

English Conversation Classes aim to provide English conversation practice for people learning English as a second language. English Conversation Class Facilitators work with clients and other volunteers in the running of English conversation classes.

Team Members – Women’s Group - Lunches | Brunswick

About the Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for people to join our passionate team of volunteers to prepare a delicious meal for people seeking asylum in Australia through our Women’s Group Program. The Women’s Group lunch team members will assist with the planning, preparation, set up and pack up of a communal lunch for approximately 60 people.

Team Members - Garden Project | Brunswick

About the Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for people to join our passionate team of volunteers to work on a project which aims to develop a weekly schedule for interested Asylum Seeker Welcome Centre (ASWC) clients to contribute to the design, planting and maintenance of the garden, thereby providing an opportunity for people seeking asylum to engage in a meaningful activity. Team Members are required for 2-3 hours per week to assist other volunteers and staff in developing and sustaining the garden project at the ASWC. Our garden is located at 212 Sydney Road Brunswick VIC 3056.

Emergency Relief Team Members assist with the packing and distribution of food, initial eligibility interviews, entry of client data, general operations of the program and maintaining the work environment.
